Popstar friends Finneas and Ashe are currently debuting a new band: “The Favors”. They’ve collaborated together before on the song ‘Till Forever Falls Apart’, which came out in 2021. Now, they’ve joined forced to create an entire new project with a debut album coming out in September. Two songs have already been released with music videos. The Favors are creating a distinctly needed voice in today’s music by mixing Ashe and Finneas’s modern styles with old school rock and theatricality.
“The Little Mess You Made” their debut single, was released June 5th. The music video introduces us to The Favors as characters, who have an up and down relationship publicized by the media. It sounds like the opening chapter of a story: playful, longing, and curious. The song’s back and forth style of duet singing is bright and nostalgic, very reminiscent of ABBA or Sonny and Cher.

The Favors’s second single, “The Hudson”, came out July 10th. This song begins with a mellow, jazzy tone, and builds into another fascinating addition to the story Ashe and Finneas are unraveling. The two wrote the album together last year, and have hinted at the narrative they created together. Finneas says “Part of the band identity involves these characters who are singing about an experience to each other. It’s a musical theater design, and it rarely happens in pop. You can picture two individuals in an apartment overlooking The Hudson singing about the same thing.”.
The Favor’s debut album “The Dream” comes out September 19th! Click the link to pre-save the album before its release on Spotify. In the meantime, check out Ashe’s latest album “Willson”, and Finneas’s newest album “For Cryin’ Out Loud!”.
