Following a decade of calling Netflix their home, the Duffer Brothers are currently in discussions with the new ownership of Paramount Pictures to come over to them full-time. If the deal goes through, according to Deadline, it will include a major theatrical content creation componet, which is something they have not been able to do at Netflix. All in all, the creators of hit series Stranger Things appear to be jumping ship, and they have their sights set bigger than ever before.
Stranger Times Coming At Paramount Pictures
A new regime is in at Paramount Pictures, following the merger with Skydance. With that, they are looking to make a big splash on the entertainment world, by hiring world-class talent. That is continuing, according to Deadline. Their sources have told them that the Duffer Brothers, famous for being the creators of mega smash hit Stranger Things, are in discussions to jump over to Paramount Pictures. The specific quote from their article reads:
We’re hearing that Stranger Things creators Matt and Ross Duffer are in talks for a massive overall deal at the David Ellison-run media company. Details are still being worked out, and sources caution that things still could fall through but we’re hearing it would include both streaming and features with a big theatrical component, something the duo have not been able to get at their current home of more than a decade, Netflix.
In short, giving the Duffer Brothers the theatrical playground is the making of something special. Stranger Things Season Four is the third most-viewed English-language season of a Netflix Original Series of all-time. As a result, they are looking to create something meaningful and special for the fifth and final season. However, once that’s done, the canvas for them to paint on will grow larger than ever.
