Sometimes, book to film adaptations do not turn out very well. However, in the eyes of some, that doesn’t appear to be the case for The Map That Leads To You, at least initially. For others, it was a dissapointment. In short, there is a wide variety of opinions on this particular film. Nonetheless, it has just debuted on Amazon Prime Video, so it is way too early to tell what the end verdict on the film will ultimately be.
The Map That Leads To You First Reactions and Reviews

A synopsis for The Map Leads To You reads as follows:
The film follows Heather (Madelyn Cline), a young woman setting off on an adventure across Europe with her best friends (Sofia Wylie & Madison Thompson) before settling into her perfectly planned life, when she crosses paths with Jack (K.J. Apa).
The film has drawn quite a bit criticism since its debut on Amazon Prime Video. For example, TheWrap writes: “It’s so divorced from reality that it’s practically grounds for divorce.” Collider adds that “the payoff is less promising when the romantic elements of this adaptation fall short and the plot resorts to overplayed tragedy.”
Despite this, there were those who had positive things to say. But Why Tho? A Geek Community writes that the “romance is nice, the adventure is gorgeous, and the lessons are as bittersweet as they need to be.” Variety adds that “Lasse Hallström delivers a heartening, charming and empowering romance that never loses focus on its heroine’s poignant predicament.”
In short, the film has very mixed opinions across the board. Some enjoy the romance, while others didn’t. Nonetheless, it is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video. Now, the fans will be able to give their verdict, just like the critics have done.
