‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ has been renewed for its 18th season on MTV. Paramount+ has also picked up ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race All-Stars’ for its eleventh season. Accompanying this is the renewal of ‘Untucked’ which explores the behind the scenes action on ‘Drag Race’ and ‘Drag Race All-Stars’.
Upon hearing the news host RuPaul Charles stated “We are so grateful to our fans for all the love and support you’ve shown to our show and to our beautiful and talented queens.” RuPaul has earned his 10th Emmy nomination for outstanding host for a reality or competition program for ‘Drag Race’.
Season 17 was a huge success, delivering its highest rated premiere in years. Last season produced great metrics according to Deadline. “The latest season averaged a 0.54 rating among adults 18-34 and a 0.5 among adults 18-49, per live + same-day data from Nielsen. Season 17 also managed the most significant full-season share of television in RuPaul’s Drag Race history in key demos. Up 12% among both the 18-34 crowd and the 18-49 demo, the season scored a 6.18 share and a 4.15 share, respectively.” Onya Nurve won season 17’s drag race taking home a $200,000 grand prize.
World of Wonder co-founders and executive producers Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato released a statement following the news.“We want to express our gratitude to Paramount for their unwavering support of the RuPaul’s Drag Race franchise as we celebrate more seasons of spreading joy and laughter.”
‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ has been nominated for ten Emmys including outstanding reality competition program. It has become the most awarded reality competition show at the Emmys with five wins.
