AFI Fest 2025 is right around the corner. With that, the organizers have selected respected film director Guillermo del Toro to be their Guest Artistic Director. Though he doesn’t have the experience of other directors, del Toro is an extremely reliable and respected director. Having him as the Guest Artistic Director is excellent news for everyone involved.
AFI Fest 2025 Has Its Guest Artistic Director

Guillermo Del Toro will serve as guest artistic director for AFI Fest 2025. In a press release, AFI President and CEO Bob Gazzale stated the following:
Guillermo del Toro is one of the great champions of the art form — a visionary filmmaker, a passionate cinephile, and a tireless advocate for bold, original storytelling. As Guest Artistic Director of AFI Fest, he brings a singular perspective that will inspire audiences of all generations.
Del Toro joins Pedro Almodóvar, Bernardo Bertolucci, Ava DuVernay, Greta Gerwig, David Lynch and Agnès Varda as guest ADs for the event.
Del Toro is a well-known director. He has directed films such as Pinocchio and Frankenstein for Netflix, Hellboy I & II, and Pacific Rim. Though not necessarily the filmography of high-end directors such as Christopher Nolan or Quentin Tarantino, del Toro still has an excellent reputation. Fans around the world will recognize his work, in particular the aforementioned films with Netflix which are his most recent works. Having a world-class talent like del Toro in a position of influence is excellent news for the festival as a whole. Therefore, the event as a whole has that much more talent in its corner, which will work out well for everyone involved, up and down the ladder.
The Event Has That Much More Talent

Guillermo del Toro is a highly respected film director. As a result, his presence as a Guest Artistic Director will bring a wealth of skills and experience to AFI Fest as a whole. All in all, the event is about to get a whole new level of recognition, as a result of this decision.
