Tame Impala has put out dates for a U.S. Tour following the release of a new album titled ‘Deadbeat’. Kevin Parker announced the tour this week along with the new album, the imprint’s first since 2020’s ‘The Slow Rush’.
The dates for the U.S tour are in a month long stretch starting with two shows at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. The tour will finish in the same manner, featuring two shows at the Kia Forum in Inglewood.
According to a press release from Sony Music, ‘Deadbeat’ is a culmination of new directions Parker took with his music. ” ON it, Parker sculpts a collection of wickedly potent club-psych explorations as a vehicle for some of his most direct, brain-wormy songwriting to date. The album is deeply inspired by bush doof culture and the Western Australia rave scene, recasting Tame Impala as a kind of future primitive rave act in the process.”
As part of his well-planned rollout, Tame Impala released a new song ‘Loser’ featuring Joe Keery aka Djo in its music video. Last month, Tame Impala also dropped a video for ‘End of Summer’. Both of these songs are included in the 12-song album.
Despite the lapse in releases from Tame Impala over the years, he’s been bouncing around various endeavors that have shaped his artistry. Earlier this year he won his first Grammy Award, for Best Dance/Electronic Recording with French duo Justice for ‘Neverender’. He’s also recorded several songs for films over the years. Parker joined bassist Thundercat on ‘No More Lies’ as well as ‘New Gold’ with Gorillaz.
