CBS action drama series ‘SWAT’ has a new spinoff coming soon to TV screens. This May, marked the conclusion of ‘SWAT’ after eight years. After going through a series of cancellations and reversals, the cast took their final curtain call. ‘SWAT’ has earned three Emmy nominations.
‘SWAT Exiles’ was announced in May of this year around the time of ‘SWAT’s finale. With the cancellation of ‘SWAT’ feeling so sudden for many of its cast members, they were surprised to discover that a spinoff was in the works. Cast members from Shemar Moore don’t seem to be involved in the new show. In ‘SWAT Exiles’, Shemar Moore returns in his role as Daniel ‘Hondo’ Harrelson’.
The premise of ‘SWAT Exiles’ is as follows according to an article from TVLine. “After a high-profile mission goes sideways, Daniel ‘Hondo’ Harrelson is pulled out of forced retirement to lead a last-chance experimental S.W.A.T. unit made up of untested, unpredictable young recruits. Hondo must bridge a generational divide, navigate clashing personalities, and turn a squad of outsiders into a team capable of protecting the city and saving the program that made him who he is.”
This week, it was announced that Ronen Rubinstein, Adain Bradley, Freddy Miyares, Zyra Gorecki and Lucy Barrett are starring in the show alongside Moore. In addition to this, Patrick St. Esprit is reprising his role as Commander Robert Hicks. ‘SWAT Exiles’ began filming in August according to Sony executive Katherine Pope.
