Wicked For Good is releasing in theaters worldwide on November 21. With the countdown to premiere day on, new information has released, regarding the runtime for the film, as well as the release date for the film’s soundtrack. With just over two months to go, the promotional material is only going to ramp up from here.
Wicked For Good Soundtrack Release Date and Information Revealed
Republic Records and Verve Records have announced the Wicked For Good soundtrack release date of November 21. This is the same day as the film’s release. On top of this, the two new original songs, which have previously been teased, now have their names. Elphaba’s (Cynthia Erivo) new song has the name: “No Place Like Home.” Meanwhile, Glinda’s (Ariana Grande) new song has the name “The Girl in the Bubble.” In addition, “The Wicked Witch of the East,” which was a part of the original Broadway show but has never been released online or with Broadway cast recordings, will be included with the soundtrack release. In a statement, Wicked For Good songwriter, and Academy Award-winning composer and lyricist, Stephen Schwartz said:
I’m especially happy that the soundtrack album for Wicked For Good has so much new music on it. In addition to two brand new songs, there is a lot that’s new in several other existing songs. Not only listeners coming to the score for the first time, but long-time fans of the original Broadway cast album, will have a great deal to discover.
Wicked For Good Runtime Revealed
As a matter of fact, the runtime for the original Wicked film was 160 minutes. However, Wicked For Good’s runtime will be shorter. According to the AMC Theatres page for the film, they have the runtime listed as 138 minutes. If confirmed, this would be 22 minutes shorter than the original film. This may be entirely by design. Act Two of the Broadway show is shorter than Act One, so there is less material for them to adapt. That said, the film is over an hour longer than Act Two of the Broadway show. With that, it will be interesting to see what they ultimately do.
Fans Will Be Changed November 21
Wicked For Good is a movie that will change the way fans look at this story. With the original film bringing a meaningful story to the big screen, anything can happen for the sequel.
