South Korean film ‘No Other Choice’ is having a big moment in the Korean box office. In its opening the film generated $4.5 million in sales. According to Variety, ‘No Other Choice’ took 45% of sales from nearly 2,000 screens.
This marks the second biggest opening for a film in the Korean market, right behind Pil Gam-sung’s comedy-horror ‘My Daughter Is A Zombie’ which debuted in July with $8.3 million.
Starring in the film is Lee Byung-hun who portrays fictional character Man-su, a laid off paper mill specialist who in a fit of rage, resorts to murdering his competitors for a job opening related to AI.
The cast also includes Son Ye-jin, Yeom Hye-ran, Park Hee-soon, Yoo Yeon-seok, and Cha Seung-won.
‘No Other choice’ premiered at this year’s Venice Film Festival with rave reviews. It will also make a showing in the upcoming days of the New York Film Festival. Neon production company is set to release the movie in North America towards the end of this year.
