Alone at Dawn
‘Alone at Dawn’ is based on the book of the same name by Dan Schilling and Lori Chapman Longfritz. An article by Deadline sums up the plot of their novel.
“Years after Air Force Combat Controller John Chapman fought to the death to save his fellow soldiers, an intelligence officer strives to prove his valor — leading an investigation that ultimately would secure him the Medal of Honor. Schilling is a military consultant on the movie and, like Chapman, also was a Combat Control Technician. Chapman Longfritz is Chapman’s sister.”
Howard is no novice to adaptations based on true stories. His directorial background has been accented by movies like ‘Apollo 13’ and ‘A Beautiful Mind’.
The trifecta of Howard, Driver, and Hathaway is one filled with boundless creativity, skill, and artistry. Hathaway has been busy at work recently with the sequel to ‘The Devil Wears Prada’, Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Odyssey’ and ‘Mother Instinct’ as well as several other films. Howard made a film for Amazon titled ‘Thirteen Lives’ which told the incredible story of a rescue mission to save a soccer team trapped in a cave in Thailand. Driver known for his role as Kylo Ren in the Star Wars series will be seen in Jim Jarmusch’s ‘Father Mother Sister Brother’ which premiered at the Venice International Film Festival. Driver is also a former Marine who has shown interest in working on military stories.
