Taylor Swift has proven this weekend that not only can she dominate the music scene, but the big screen as well. In support of her twelfth studio album ‘The Life of a Showgirl’, Swift released her film “The Official Release Party of a Showgirl”. “Release Party” debuted in the box office at $33 million domestically with another $13 million internationally. This feat is major for Swift mainly because her announcement of the film came not even a month ago. There was also very little promotion of “Release Party” making its reception a testament to her impact as an artists.
“Release Party”, a 90 minute listening party coupled with music videos and behind the scenes footages, is being distributed by AMC Theaters. Many people have praised the film. Sadly, “Release Party” was only available in theaters from Oct. 3-5. It would be awesome to see what the film’s reach would’ve been if it had stayed in theaters longer.
AMC CEO Adam Aron praised Swift in a statement. “On behalf of AMC Theatres and the entire theatrical exhibition industry, I extend our sincerest appreciation to the iconic Taylor Swift for bringing her brilliance and magic to movie theatres this weekend,” Aron said. “Her vision to add a cinematic element to her incredible album debut was nothing less than a triumph.”
