For heist fans, the recent news of a seminal franchise piques interest. George Clooney told E! News that another addition to the ‘Ocean’s Eleven’ franchise is set to begin filming next year. Clooney first began teasing ‘Ocean’s Fourteen’ in 2023 in an interview with Uproxx saying they had a “great script”.
Unless Clooney is pulling our legs, it looks like audiences will get a look at that script as the puzzle pieces of ‘Ocean’s Fourteen’ begin to come together.
“We just got the budget approved at Warner Bros. and we’re trying to set up,” Clooney said. “It’s just scheduling, so it’s just setting a start date for us. Probably start in about nine or 10 months, shooting.”
‘Ocean’s Eleven’ originals like Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts, Matt Damon, and Don Cheadle will make a return. The original ‘Ocean’s Eleven’ from 1960 featured Rat Pack members Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., Peter Lawford, and Joey Bishop. The 2001 remake directed by Steven Soderbergh was a critical and commercial hit amassing over $450 million in the box office. It’s successors 2004’s ‘Ocean’s Twelve’ and 2007’s ‘Ocean’s Thirteen’ reached $362 million and $311 million respectively. The 2018 spinoff ‘Ocean’s 8’ starring Sandra Bullock as the siter of George Clooney’s Danny Ocean featured an ensemble cast of Sarah Paulson, Rihanna, Cate Blanchett, Awkwafina, Mindy Kaling, Anne Hathaway, and Bonham Carter. ‘Ocean’s 8’ reached $297 million.
