The party is just getting underway. Paramount Pictures announces that MobLand will come back for a second season. Starring Tom Hardy, Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren, the British crime drama series will take the renewal and look to build upon what was a clearly successful first season.
MobLand Will Return

MobLand will return after Paramount Plus renews the British crime drama series for a second season. The series centers around a London-based crime family fighting for their lives. The show holds a 75% critic score and a 78% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.
One of the main reasons for a renewal is that the series is “the second biggest launch for a Paramount original series behind Landman, per internal global data for the first 90 days of release.” This gives Paramount a lot of confidence and motivation to renew the series for a second season.
In addition, Paramount Global President of Showtime/MTV Entertainment Chris McCarthy is a big champion of the series. With great excitement, McCarthy writes in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter: “With more than 26 million viewers and climbing, MobLand has become a resounding triumph. We are elated to greenlight a second season of this global phenomenon, which has dominated both domestic and international charts and soared to No. 1 in the U.K.”
All in all, this is a major win for Paramount and the creators of MobLand. The executives and fans alike are into the series, which gives the studio confidence to keep going. That said, time will tell in terms of whether or not the creators are ultimately able to capitalize on that success, and make a second season that is a worthy continuation of the story at hand.
What The Future Holds

In conclusion, MobLand being renewed for a second season showcases the confidence Paramount has in the series. In addition, it shows that fans will watch shows of this nature, if the story and characters are top-notch, which is the case here. All in all, it is excellent news. Fans will hope the creators will build upon the successful first season to create an even better second season. However, time will tell as to whether or not this ultimately happens, or if a sophomore slump will perhaps come into full effect.
