Michael B. Jordan is set to direct, produce and star in a remake of the romantic hiest film ‘The Thomas Crown Affair’. Jordan will be producing under his Outlier Society imprint along with Elizabeth Raposo. Atlas Entertainment producer Charles Roven will be joining the team as well. ‘The Thomas Crown Affair’ will be distributed by Amazon MGM Studios.
The film will feature a star-studded ensemble cast. Jordan will be joined by Black Panther co-star Danai Gurira and Academy Award winner Kenneth Branagh. Other cast members are Taylor Russell, Lily Gladstone, Pilou Asbaek, and Aiysha Hart.
Jordan made his directorial debut with ‘Creed III’ in 2023 which was a box-office success. His work on ‘The Thomas Crown Affair’ will surely add to his resume as he continues to flourish after his role in ‘Sinners’. In the 2018 smash hit ‘Black Panther’, Jordan starred as anti-hero Killmonger, facing off against Gurira’s role as Wakandan warrior Okoye.
The original ‘The Thomas Crown Affair’ was released in 1968, starring Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway as Thomas Crown and Vicki Anderson. In the 1968 version, Crown, a millionaire looking for excitement organizes a ploy to rob a bank. Anderson, an insurance investigator for the bank begins to follow Crown in a romantic cat- and- mouse game. The 1999 remake starred Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo, featuring an plot surrounded by art stealing. Jordan and Russell will play the millionaire and investigator roles in the remake, following the art theme. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Gurira will play Jordan’s right hand man.
The release date has been set for March 5, 2027. Filming began last week in London.
