This Wednesday, a teaser trailer was released for ‘The Spongebob Movie: Search for Squarepants’. It will be the fourth theatrical movie released in the SpongeBob series. In 2022, developments for the film were announced by Brian Robbins, Chief Content Officer for Paramount + in addition to several spinoff movies. After having to pull the previous film ‘The Spongebob Movie: Sponge on the Run’ due to the pandemic, this movie will be highly anticipated. Earlier films in the Spongebob franchise have grossed close to $471 million worldwide.
According to IGN, the plot of the movie will be as follows. “Desperate to be a big guy, SpongeBob sets out to prove his bravery to Mr. Krabs by following The Flying Dutchman – a mysterious swashbuckling ghost pirate – on a seafaring comedy-adventure that takes him to the deepest depths of the deep sea, where no Sponge has gone before.
Former creative director for the SpongeBob tv series Derek Dymon is set to direct the film. The screenplay was written by Pam Brady and Matt Lieberman; the plot was created by Marc Ceccarelli, Kaz, and Brady.
Cast of ‘The SpongeBob Movie: Search for Squarepants’
Main cast members include Tom Kenny as SpongeBob, Clancy Brown as Mr. Krabs, and Rodger Bumpass as Squidward. Others include Bill Fagerbakke as Patrick , Carolyn Lawrence as Sandy Cheeks, and Mr. Lawrence as Plankton. George Lopez, Isis “Ice Spice” Gaston, Arturo Castro, Sherry Cola, and Regina Hall will make appearances as well. Mark Hamill will portray The Flying Dutchman.
Rapper Ice Spice will contribute a song to the soundtrack with John Debney returning to develop film score. In addition to this, animated short film will be released jointly ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Chrome Alone 2 – Lost in New Jersey.’
