Actor Yura Borisov has been added to the growing cast for ‘Artificial’ a film that was recently announced last month. The Oscar-nominated actor is coming off of the success of ‘Anora’ where he stared alongside Mikey Madison and Mark Eydelshteyn. Borisov portrayed Russian writer Alexander Pushkin in ‘The Poet’ this year and will star in ‘This Summer Will End.’ Another well-known performance of his was in ‘AK-47’ where he portrayed Mikhail Kalashnikov, inventor of the AK-47. Recently, the Russian actor received an invitation to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. The film will be directed by Luca Guadagnino whose film credits include ‘Queer’, ‘Challengers’, ‘Call Me By Your Name’.
Plot details for the film are still under the radar. However, according to sources like The Hollywood Reporter, it will explore artificial intelligence by focusing on tech juggernaut Open AI. In 2023, CEO Sam Altman was terminated and reinstated within a few days. This came after speculation regarding the safety of AI and reports of abuse ‘Artificial’ will probably seek inspiration from that as a comedic drama. Other cast members include Monica Barbaro and Andrew Garfield. Amazon MGM Studios will be distributing the movie. Guadagnino has done previous work with the studio including ‘Challengers’ and the upcoming movie ‘After the Hunt’. Simon Rich is slated to write for the film.
