The post-The Rise of Skywalker world of Star Wars filmmaking has been incredibly murky. While The Mandalorian and Grogu is the first to release post-Episode IX, a different film almost had the spot. As a matter of fact, Adam Driver has revealed a Kylo Ren solo film was being developed. However, it was rejected by Bob Iger and the higher-ups at Disney. All in all, the details that have come out about the film are very fascinating, making it all the more dissapointing the film will never get made.
A Kylo Ren Solo Film The Hunt For Ben Solo Almost Came To The Big Screen

To put it simply, a Kylo Ren solo film was nearly on the way. In an interview, Adam Driver revealed “that over the span of two years, he and Steven Soderbergh developed a script called “The Hunt for Ben Solo.”” Written over a two year stretch, Driver described it as “handmade and character-driven,” comparing it to 1980’s “The Empire Strikes Back.” The script was submitted to Lucasfilm, who said they “loved the idea.” However, when they brought it to Disney, they killed the project there. They questioned how Ben Solo could be alive, given the ending of The Rise of Skywalker. With that, development of the film ended following the meeting with Disney.
Despite Driver saying The Hunt for Ben Solo was “one of the coolest (expletive) scripts I had ever been a part of,” it will ultimately never see the light of day.
A Character-Driven Star Wars Film That Will Never Happen Now

In short, a Kylo Ren solo Star Wars film had been in the works for two years. While Lucasfilm loved it, Disney was not as confident in it, effectively killing it right then and there. All in all, since the project will never see the light of day, fans will wonder what ultimately could’ve been.
