Spongebob is heading to Hollywood for its world premiere. ‘The Spongebob Movie: Search for Squarepants’ is set to premiere at the American Film Institute Festival this year. The festival is held from October 22-26 at the historic TCL Chinese Theatre. AFI is hosted by Canva.
‘The Spongebob Movie: Search for Squarepants’ was announced in 2022.
The plot of the movie is sure to grab the interest of fans. Desperate to be a big guy, SpongeBob sets out to prove his bravery to Mr. Krabs by following The Flying Dutchman – a mysterious swashbuckling ghost pirate – on a seafaring comedy-adventure that takes him to the deepest depths of the deep sea, where no Sponge has gone before.
The AFI festival will include several other premieres including ‘Song Sung Blue’ and ‘Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere’. Guillermo del Toro is the guest artistic director and is accompanied by a string of other lineups and appearances. The full AFI lineup will be released on September 30.
