I Forgive You Streaming Now
In short, I Forgive You is an emotionally-powerful and vocal-rich album. Cynthia Erivo takes her voice, and creates something extremely unique. In addition, Erivo knew risks were needed to create her perfect vision. As a matter of fact, she worked to see this vision through to the end.
In summary, the risks taken with I Forgive You are substantial but worth it. For example, “Push and Pull” has Erivo rapping. In comparsion to Wicked, fans may not expect her to be capable of rapping. In short, she is capable of it, and she does a masterful job. For example, the second verse really shows her rapping capabilites. From the moment it starts, she goes into this excellent rapping spree. In particular, the lines “We were just floatin’ in the ocean, now we’re seasick” and “Next up, we’re giving back rubs in the bathtub with the jet streams” are some of the best vocals of the entire song. She’s giving fans a very unique track, in comparsion to what she is typically known for.
Then, there are tracks fourteen and fiteen, “I Choose Love” and “Be Okay.” In summary, these two tracks show that she has the lower vocal capabilities, like her good friend Ariana Grande. Artists like Grande, and even Billie Eilish, bring their vocals exceptionally low. With the music they often do, it makes sense. With Erivo, she usually doesn’t do lower vocals, but “I Choose Love” and “Be Okay” work because the vocals are lower in nature.
This, and the entire album as a whole, will show Erivo’s undeniable vocal talents. She can go very high, as seen in “Defying Gravity” in Wicked, but she can also go very low, as seen in “I Choose Love” and “Be Okay” in I Forgive You. She is willing to go far to showcase her musical dreams, and it will show with this album for a long time to come.
