This Monday, the F1 movie premiered at Radio City Music Hall in New York City. The star studded event included Formula 1 drivers, Hollywood stars, and the cast of the movie. Formula 1 racers who came to the premiere included Alexander Albon, Charles Leclerc, and Pierre Gasly, to name a few. Fifteen of Formula 1’s twenty racers came to the Big Apple after the Canadian Grand Prix on Sunday. Formula 1 juggernaut , Lewis Hamilton dazzled the world premiere in a Dior suit. Lewis Hamilton is also one of the film’s executive producers, making his appearance even more incredible. Celebrities who attended included John Mayer, Suni Lee, Dom Dolla, and Lindsey Vonn.
F1 Premiere
Seeing Formula 1 stars attend the premiere, is a tell-tale sign of the film’s success. The intersection between Hollywood and a world-class racing team, is a thrilling one that is sure to leave viewers on the edge of their seats.
Brad Pitt and Damson Idris star in F1, a great pairing by directors that is sure to wow audiences. This marks an exciting time for the film as interested followers gear up for its release on June 27th.
In the post-Fast and Furious era, F1 shows great promise as a racing film with striking cinematography and an action packed story line. The plot of F1 follows the story of Sonny Hayes (Brad Pitt) , a retired Formula One driver. In the 1990s, Hayes had a bad car crash that forced him to quit his passion and make a living as a NYC taxi driver. His friend and Formula One team owner Ruben (Javier Bardem), asks him to come out of retirement and mentor Joshua Pearce (Damson Idris) for the Apex Grand Prix.
In the days following the premiere, the summer blockbuster has an 87% score on Rotten Tomatoes. The film’s director Joseph Kosinski resume includes “Top Gun: Maverick”, “Tron:Legacy”, and “Oblivion” making F1 even more enticing to see. In its opening weekend, the film is slated to make approximately $35-40 million. Alongside its release are M3GAN 2.0 and Sorry, Baby.
F1 will be released ahead of the Austrian Grand Prix on June 27th in the U.S.
