Christopher Nolan is going for his biggest filmmaking adventure yet, as is evidence by the first images from his newest film “The Odyssey.” The film, with an exceptionally talented cast on deck to star, is promissing to honor Homer’s epic tale, and even bring it to new heights, in ways that only Christopher Nolan’s filmmaking style will do.
A Grand Adventure Awaits In Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey”




In short, Christopher Nolan “is going back to where it all began” with his version of “The Odyssey.” As a matter of fact, the first images from Nolan’s adaptation are now out, thanks to Empire Magazine. Regarding the images, in the top right, we see Tom Holland, who will play the role of Odysseus’ son Telemachus. In the bottom left, Anne Hathaway in the front (Penelope, Odysseus’ wife) and Mia Goth (Melantho) in the back. Meanwhile, the top left and bottom right images are more genric shots, showcasing the scale at play with this version of “The Odyssey.”
In an interview with Empire Magazine, Nolan revealed his version of Homer’s story shot “over two million feet of film.” As a matter of fact, that film was collected over the 91-day filming period. In addition, he spoke of his empahsis to film on pratical sets. This includes “The Odyssey” filming right on the ocean, to “capture how hard those journeys would have been for people, and the leap of faith that was being made in an unmapped, uncharted world.”
“The Odyssey” stars Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, Robert Pattinson, Charlize Theron, Jon Bernthal, Mia Goth, among many others. Nolan directs, writes, and also produces the film with his wife Emma Thomas, through their company Syncopy. The film releases in theaters on July 17, 2026.

To conclude, Christopher Nolan is once again pushing the boundaries of filmmaking with “The Odyssey.” With all of his talents, and an exceptional and all-star cast and crew at his disposal, he will push the limits like he has every time he is in the director’s chair.
