Marvel Studios has released another trailer for the premiere of “Ironheart” later this month. Despite some pretty limited marketing being done for the new series, “Ironheart” is going to be a great addition to the Marvel canon. The show marks the conclusion of Phase Five in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, an era that was interrupted by the 2023 Hollywood Labor Disputes. Ironheart follows the story of Riri Williams, a proud daughter of the Windy City and MIT wunderkind who designs a suit rivaling that of Iron Man himself. Created by Brian Michael Bendis and Mike Deodato, Riri Williams was introduced in 2016. The character made her cinematic debut in “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever”directed by Ryan Coogler. Williams is portrayed by actress Domonique Thorne.
Ironheart shines in new trailer
The new series is set in the aftermath of the events in “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.” Created by Chinaka Hodge, the series shows Williams discovering a subtle war between technology and magic. This magical element is embodied by Anthony Ramos in his portrayal of Parker Robbins also known as “The Hood.” In addition to Thorpe and Ramos, the series will star Lyric Ross, Alden Ehrenreich, Regan Aliyah, Manny Montana, Matthew Elam, and Anji White.
When speaking with Marvel about the dynamic between Ironheart and The Hood, Ryan Coogler noted that it is something special. “Riri is definitely in conversation with a street-level show like Daredevil,” Coogler teases. “You’ve got characters trying — both heroes and villains — to make do with what they have. Then you combine that with cosmic Marvel, characters who would be at home in Doctor Strange or WandaVision. That [mix] of street-level Marvel and magical Marvel is a pretty crazy combination.”
The first trailer displayed the basic DNA of the show in a testy dynamic between Ironheart and The Hood. However, this new trailer offers a little more subtext to the plot. Ironheart blends technical prowess with alchemy through a magical suit along with a modern take on Tony Stark’s AI companion J.A.R.V.I.S.
“Ironheart” will have a three episode premiere on June 24, only on Disney+.
