Buried within a long letter to Warner Brothers Discovery shareholders is a small quote from David Zaslav. Within that quote is confirmation that James Gunn will return to write “the next installment in the Super family.” With Superman having been out in theaters for several weeks, and with Supergirl and other DC Studios projects on the way, DC appears to be heading in an upward direction, for the first time in years.
Super Family Will Return
In a quote within a letter to Warner Brothers Discovery shareholders (which also included an update regarding when The Batman Part II starts filming), CEO David Zaslav said the following: “James Gunn is already preparing to write the next installment in the Super family.”
This is on the heels of the success that Superman has been. However, Zaslav did not offer any details as to what this next installment will be. Some fans speculate it could be a Superman sequel, but since it is not explicitly stated, others speculate it could be for some other mystery project. With Superman, Supergirl, Superboy, and others that could be within the Super family stereotype, the possibilities are endless.
At the end of the day for many, James Gunn at the pen for another DC Studios film is excellent news, but it will be fascinating to see what comes of this next Super family installment in the near future.
A Super Return In The Near Future
In conclusion, the Super family being a top priority for DC Studios is wonderful news for fans. Superman is one of the most popular characters in their staple, so it is not surprising his supporting cast of characters are getting the spotlight. All in all, the future is looking bright for DC, in ways it once could only imagine.
