Jurassic World Rebirth is roaring its way onto the big screen, as the film is having an excellent time at the box office during its opening weekend. Though under other films in the franchise, Rebirth is still making money. All in all, this is good news for Jurassic World fans. Though the critics don’t seem to be into it as much as the studio may ultimately be hoping for, a lot of fans are, which is ultimately what counts.
A Jurassic-Sized Rebirth

Jurassic World Rebirth is doing an excellent job at the box office, having great success over the Independence Day weekend. The film has opened to $147.3 million domestically. This adds to the overall $318.3 million worldwide total. For context, in just its opening weekend, the film is the ninth-highest grossing film of 2025. It is behind films such as Ne Zha 2 (number one, at a staggering $1.9 billion), the live-action Lilo and Stitch (number two, at $972.7 million), but is ahead of other tentpole releases such as F1 (number 10, $293.6 million) and Final Destination Bloodlines (number 11, $284.7 million).
It is important to note this is lower than the original 2015 Jurassic World film (opened to $524.4 million worldwide, which was the all-time record at the time), but higher than the most recent Jurassic World Dominion (opened to $200.7 million worldwide). In short, Jurassic World Rebirth has fallen in the middle, but it is still a great success. Unfortunately, the film faces steep competition in the coming weeks. James Gunn’s Superman releases July 11, while The Fantastic Four First Steps releases July 25. It is likely the film will experience a significant second weekend drop, thought time will tell for sure in terms of whether or not this actually happens.
The Rebirth Is Roaring Ahead

In conclusion, Jurassic World Rebirth is looking to be a fun ride. Though the critics think less of it, the audience had a bit more fun throughout the film. All in all, however, the film has made a respectable amount of money opening weekend. Although competition is ahead, the dinosaurs will keep roaring ahead, that is for sure.
Jurassic World Rebirth is directed by Gareth Edwards (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story), and written by original Jurassic Park writer David Koepp. The film stars Scarlett Johansson (Transformers One), Mahershala Ali (Spider-Verse film series), Jonathan Bailey (Wicked), Rupert Friend (Obi-Wan Kenobi), Manuel Garcia-Rulfo (The Lincoln Lawyer), and Ed Skrein (Rebel Moon film series). It is produced and distributed by Universal Pictures. It was released on July 2, 2025.
