In one of the more shocking trades of the NBA offseason, Kevin Durant will pack his bags and make his way to Houston. Phoenix no longer wanting his services, the eventual hall of famer will take his talents to the Rockets, and see if he will gain his third NBA championship. However, time will tell if that particular goal will ultimately happen or not.
Kevin Durant Goes From The Desert To Space City

Kevin Durant has been traded from the Phoenix Suns to the Houston Rockets. Shams Charania from ESPN lays out the terms of the deal. The Suns get:
- Jalen Green
- Dillon Brooks
- No. 10 Overall Pick in the 2025 NBA Draft
- Five future second-round picks
Meanwhile, the Houston Rockets get Durant, the 2008 NBA Rookie of the Year. The Rockets certainly got a Hall of Fame talent in Durant. The trade will process when the new league year begins July 6. When that happens, Houston gets a 15-time All-Star, a four-time Olympic gold medalist, a two-time NBA champion, among other accolades.
On paper, it would appear as if Houston are the winners of the trade. As NBC Sports notes, the Suns gave up Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson and four first-round picks to get Durant from the Brooklyn Nets. However, despite being an eventual Hall of Famer, he is 36 years old. With that, this is likely all Phoenix was going to get out of the trade. It will take time to see just how effective this trade ultimately is for both sides. However, fans on both sides are claiming victory, though the true effects have not settled in just yet.
Is This Trade A Boom Or Bust?

In conclusion, once the 2025-26 NBA season gets underway, only then will the true effects of the trade be revealed. Until then, fans will speculate about the biggest NBA trade since the Los Angeles Lakers traded for Luka Doncic, and perhaps one of the biggest trades in recent memory. That said, only time will reveal the truth of the matter, but it may ultimately take more time than some fans would like.
