Since being drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft, Kyle Hamilton has been an instrumental part of their defense. Now, he has gotten paid, and paid well. First reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Hamilton is now the highest paid safety in NFL history. This is excellent news for Hamilton, for the Ravens, and for the fans as a whole. It ensures they will get to see Hamilton play for Baltimore for many more years to come.
Kyle Hamilton Has Got His Money
Kyle Hamilton was drafted 14th overall to the Baltimore Ravens in the 2022 NFL Draft. Since that day, he has become an instrumental part of the team as a whole. As General Manager Eric DeCosta notes in a statement on the Ravens’ official team website:
Phenomenal player. Phenomenal person. Great leader. We think this recognizes his impact on our team and in the community. We’re thrilled to get this done and off my plate.
Naturally, it seemed like a given Hamilton would get paid eventually. However, many did not expect him to become the highest-paid safety in NFL history. That said, that is the situation. As Adam Schefter reported for ESPN, Kyle Hamilton is receiving a four year, $100.4 million extension. Of that $100.4 million, $82 million of it is fully guaranteed. That $82 million guaranteed shatters the previous record of $45 million, given to Antoine Winfield Jr. of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last year.
In short, this historic deal given to Hamilton is a win-win for everyone. The Ravens get to lock down one of the best safeties in the NFL for at least four more years. Hamilton gets a major payday in the prime of his career. Most importantly, perhaps, is thew fact that Ravens fans get to see one of their favorite players remain for many years to come.
