The World of ‘Love, Brooklyn’
The topic of gentrification is a keystone of the movie. Brooklyn has been a haven for Black creatives over the years, the borough loving its inhabitants just as tenderly as its inhabitants love it. Throughout the film, Holder showcases visual work from local artist along with New York musicians being featured on the soundtrack. The script, written by Paul Zimmerman is very intentional with its framework. It analyzes the thinnest fibers of the complicated 30+ dating landscape in the midst of everyday happenings.
In an interview with Variety, Andre Holland had this to say about his character. “It was an opportunity to get into an emotional state that I feel familiar with and that I wanted to explore and understand better, and to tell a larger story about what it means to try and be an artist making things today against the backdrop of a changing landscape,” he explains.
The film will be released on August 29th. Follow Famease Media for more updates.
