Miley Cyrus has been creatively reborn, as she has released her ninth studio album, Something Beautiful. For the album, there is great critical acclaim across the board. From those who say she is at her “creative peak,” to others who call it an extremely sucessful experimental album. There is a lot to love with Something Beautiful, with a lot of tear-jerking yet inspirational tracks. This creates what is truly an experiment, but a special and beautiful experiment. This goes to show that, with this album, Miley Cyrus is truly creatively reborn.
Something Beautiful Is Truly That
USA Today puts it best when they say:
Miley Cyrus is truly creatively reborn. With thirteen different tracks with a unique flair, yet with similar theming. This helped to make a complete album, that had plenty of standout songs and moments. One of the most emotionally-charged songs of the entire album is “More to Lose.” This song is like a continuation of “The Climb,” which Cyrus sung for the Hannah Montana The Movie Soundtrack. In “The Climb,” there are the lyrics:
There's always gonna be another mountain / I'm always gonna wanna make it move / Always gonna be an uphill battle / Sometimes I'm gonna have to lose
Cyrus has this unique ability. She knows that she needs to create something new with every music release to keep fans entertained. However, she also recognizes where she’s come from. Hannah Montana is how a lot of fans came to know her. As a result, she always honors where she came from, as she knows that’s what helped to shape her into who she is today. It shows in “More to Lose.” The following lyrics really call back to her days on Hannah Montana, but also to her acting days in general:
A movie star in a worn-out coat / Yeah, throw away my mind / And it happens all the time
In conclusion, this is evolution. For the most part, this is one of the primary themes of Something Beautiful. Cyrus’ evolution into the star that she’s become shows greatly in this album. All of the struggles, emotions, and sacrifices that have come along the way. It’s all led to this moment, and this album. It’s becoming something truly special that she can be proud of for a long time to come, especially since it’s a bold showcase of how she’s evolved into such a legendary performer.
Miley Is Truly Creatively Reborn
Miley Cyrus stated that Something Beautiful is “extremely experimental, so have fun with that.” The experimental nature shows throughout the entire album.
It is fair to say that Cyrus took big swings with her newest album, but it showed her evolution, and how she has truly matured as a performer. It is because of incredible work like this that was bestowed the honor of being the youngest Disney Legend at the 2024 D23 Expo.
Miley Cyrus is born to peform. She found a way to become creatively reborn with Something Beautiful, which created something truly meaningful, inspirational, and special to so many people, that this experimental run, which proves high risk but high reward can pay off, will be remembered for a long time to come.
