Netflix’s newest romantic comedy, “My Oxford Year” premieres this Friday! The long-anticipated adaptation to Julia Whelan’s 2018 book, also titled “My Oxford Year”, is almost here. The film stars Sofia Carson and Corey Mylchreest and is set in the scenic halls and greens of Oxford University. Check out the full-length trailer for a sneak peak!

The story follows Sofia Carson’s character Anna, a young American woman who sets out to attend Oxford University to fulfill her childhood dreams. Once she gets there, she meets Jamie Davenport, a local who she gets off on the wrong foot with. Luckily enough, Anna’s scholarship to get her to Oxford is a class that Jamie is a teacher assistant for. The more Anna gets to know Jamie, she realizes that what she had envisioned for her dream year in Oxford may be something entirely different.

Sofia Carson, well known for her role as ‘Evie’ in Disney’s Descendant’s series, enjoyed getting into character for “My Oxford Year”. She says “It was so much fun to step into Anna’s shoes and, you know, she’s such an Anglophile, so I think she learned so much about British culture before arriving. So she’s like a fish out of water who thinks she isn’t a fish out of water.”.
Her costar Corey Mylchreest, however, is no stranger to the UK. The British actor is best known for his work in Bridgerton, another Neftlix original. He spoke about his experience to Netflix, saying “I chose not to visit all the locations where we would be filming because I wanted to save my honest reaction to witnessing the magic of Oxford for the first time, for once the cameras were rolling”
