Reneé Rapp is embracing her lesbianism with her new album BITE ME. The 12-track album embraces her identity in unique and emotional ways. She’s been trying to find her to fully express herself. Now, she’s figured it out. At the end of the day, she is not apologizing for being her true self, and it shows through an impactful and emotional 12-track album, that fans will remember for a long time to come.
BITE ME Embraces Rapp’s Identity

As is stated in Variety, BITE ME “is packed with WLW anthems.” “Why Is She Still Here?” is, according to Rapp, the “gayest song on the album.” The song is described as “a standout ballad that delves into the emotional aftermath of non-monogamous relationships.” However, this is not the only WLW anthem on the album. With other songs such as “Good Girl,” “Kiss It Kiss It,” and “At Least I’m Hot,” lesbianism is the name of the game, which is entirely by design.
In short, BITE ME “dives deep into emotional vulnerability and queer love, specifically love between women.” Since going public with her girlfriend Towa Bird after the 2024 Vanity Fair Oscars afterparty, Rapp has never looked back. In regards to her music career in general, she stated:
Everything inherently that I do is lesbianism. Everything I make is gay. Even the parts that were informed by relationships when I was with men — they’re still lesbian songs to me, because when I was with men, it wasn’t like I just wasn’t gay at that point. I was conforming.
All in all, everything that built to BITE ME’s release has paid off. As noted by Rapp, in regards to LGBTQ+ represenatation in pop music: “I think the only people that are really pushed by mainstream music are just white lesbians, and even then, it’s pretty scarce.” With her new album, and the accompanying tour, it is safe to say that Rapp may inspire the next generation of LGBTQ+ pop artists, to expres their true selves in powerful and emotional ways.
A New Beginning For Reneé Rapp

In conclusion, since coming out as a lesbian, Reneé Rapp has been trying to find new ways to express herself. She has figured it out with BITE ME. A 12-track emotional look into her identity, it embraces lesbianism themes to create an album that will truly make its mark as a LGBTQ+ anthem album for many within the communities, no matter how they choose to identify themselves.
