After a brilliant modern take on a cult classic, the creators of ‘Road House’ are still looking for more in a sequel set to start production soon. 2024’s ‘Road House’ starring Jake Gyllenhaal has slowly built its foundation for a sequel. This year Guy Ritchie was in talks to direct the sequel; however Ritchie left the movie in July. Around that time Dave Bautista was rumored to have been offered a role as well as Leila George.
It was announced recently that Aldis Hodge was officially added to the cast. It is safe to assume that there will be more additions as the planning for ‘Road House 2’ becomes more concrete. With this sequel, this would make it the fourth film in a franchise that has spanned nearly forty years.
The 2024 version of ‘Road House’ features Gyllenhaal as former UFC fighter turned bouncer Elwood Dalton living in the Florida Keys. ‘Road House’ premiered last spring at the opening night of South by Southwest festival. Afterwards it was released on Prime Video. ‘Road House’ featured Conor McGregor, Daniela Melchior, Billy Magnussen, and Jessica Williams.
The original movie was released in 1989 and featured Patrick Swayze.
