Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway filmed scenes for ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2‘ this week in Manhattan. The two actresses reprised their iconic roles as Miranda Priestly and Andrea “Andy” Sachs. Nearly 20 years after the original, the photos sparked conversation about the film’s enduring fashion legacy.
Released in 2006, The Devil Wears Prada follows recent college graduate Sachs as she lands a job at a Runway magazine. She finds herself working under the editor-in-chief, Miranda Priestly. The film became a cult classic, celebrated for its high fashion, memorable lines, and standout performances.
“I didn’t realize that it would take 20 years for that feeling to become undeniable,” said Hathaway told Vogue’s Life in Looks, reflecting on the film’s lasting cultural impact.
The sequel brings back orignial cast members. Emily Blunt returns as Emily Charlton, now a major executive in the fashion world. Stanley Tucci reprises his role as Nigel Kipling, according to Deadline. Their return has fans speculating about the storyline and the fashion evolution.
One user on X wrote, “#DevilWearsPrada is one of the only movies I can recite dozens of lines from. I don’t know how to take this news, but if a sequel/offshoot/whatever you want to call it does end up happening, please make sure it doesn’t dilute the original’s impact.”
