From the creators of Outer Banks comes the story of real-life high school graduates in Wilmington, North Carolina that come together to form a rock band. The Runarounds, premiering on Amazon Prime Video September 1, tells the story of the band of the same name. “Funny How The Universe Works,” a two-track double single from the upcoming series, is streaming now. The accompanying live performance video is now out on YouTube. In addition, the official trailer for the series is also now out on YouTube.

The Story Of “The Runarounds”
In 2021, William Lipton, Axel Ellis, Zende Murdock, Jesse Golliher, and Jeremy Yun came together to form “The Runarounds,” to perform on the Netflix Original Series Outer Banks.When the five first came to audition for filmmaker Jonas Pate, who was in charge of casting at the time, “they were playing and were incredible” within 45 minutes of meeting one another for the first time. They then were, in fact, chosen for Outer Banks, being the party band for Mike and Anna’s anniversary in Season Three, Episode Seven of the hit series.
In short, this is the spark that lit the fire on all the success to come. A year after that chance encounter with one another, “The Runarounds” filmed the pilot for, what would become, their new series on Amazon Prime Video. However, their musical bonds go beyond the screen. In 2022, they performed their song “Senior Year” live at The Windjammer and Vickery’s in South Carolina. Then, the following year, they performed at the University of Southern California, with six of the songs performed that day later made available on music streaming platforms.
In regards to how they go about performing, Jesse Golliher said:
There’s a way you can build a show and kind of weave it together into an entire experience. And I think that’s something I’d like to navigate.

“Funny How The Universe Works” Double Single Released
The story of “The Runarounds” comes full circle with their new original series on Amazon Prime Video that is premiering September 1. Ahead of the premiere of the series, the band released a double single.
Containing new versions of “Funny How The Universe Works” and “Senior Year,” two songs the band is known for, both show the unique style of rock that the band has become well-known for. Something “The Runarounds” are excellent at is taking sub-genres of rock, such as pop rock and edgy rock, and make them stand out from the rest of the pack. In addition, they take simplistic rock concepts and elevate them to new heights, which creates some excellent music for all to hear.
What has helped them stand out even further is excellent live performances, as is evident by their “Funny How The Universe Works” live peformance video. They know how to keep a crowd engaged with vibrant vocals and backing tracks, which leads to spectactular performances that all can enjoy.
The Runarounds Series Trailer Released
On August 7, Amazon Prime Video released a powerful, impactful, and emotionally-driven official trailer for The Runarounds series. Premiering September 1, the trailer promises the series will include a lot of comedic moments, but also a lot of heart, emotion, and passion for music.
At the end of the day, these are the elements that brought “The Runarounds” together as a band, so that energy is captured perfectly. It is clear that William Lipton, Axel Ellis, Zende Murdock, Jesse Golliher, Jeremy Yun, and everyone else on screen in this series is having a lot of fun, which will make the final product feel even more special. Every moment throughout the duration of the trailer is filled with so much energy, love, and passions, some of the founding principles of “The Runarounds” band itself. It will truly make for something incredibly special, when the series premieres on September 1, exclusively on Amazon Prime Video.
