The longest Nintendo Direct in history revealed the first tease of the sequel to The Super Mario Bros. Movie. With that, the title of the movie was revealed. All in all, it indicates that fans will go on a ride through the stars, and beyond, which will be something truly special.
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Is On The Way
During the September 12 Nintendo Direct, the longest Nintendo Direct in history, Nintendo revealed The Super Mario Galaxy Movie as the name to the sequel of 2023’s The Super Mario Bros. Movie. In addition, a short 52-second teaser was shown during the presentation. It starts with Mario having a nap under the tree, when a butterfly lands on his hand. Then, we quickly begin going through the Mushroom Kingdom, seeing a Monty Mole and Cheep-Cheep for the first time. Finally, the camera shoots up to the sky, where the film’s logo is revealed.
Chris Pratt (Mario), Anya Taylor-Joy (Princess Peach), Charlie Day (Luigi), Jack Black (Bowser), Keegan-Michael Key (Toad) and Kevin Michael Richardson (Kamek) will all return to voice their respective characters. In addition, Michael Jelenic and Aaron Horvath will return to direct. On top of this, Brian Tyler will return as the film’s composer.
With much of the original talent returning, this is excellent news for Nintendo and Illumination. This is especially excellent news for the fans. The Super Mario Bros. Movie is currently the fifth highest-grossing animated film of all-time. As such, Nintendo is looking to capitalize on its success with The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. With the star power at their side, they are well on their way to accomplishing this goal.
It’s-a Me, Mario In Space

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie will release in theaters April 3, 2026. With that, with much of the voice and other talent returning for the sequels, fans can expect acknowledgements and references from all areas of the Mario universe, which will make the moviegoing experience something truly special.
