It’s time for fans of the adored Pixar film series ‘Toy Story’ to get ready for the movie theaters again. Coming seven years after the fourth film reunited dynamic duo Woody and Buzz Lightyear with Bo Peep and a new character named Forky, a fifth movie is releasing next year. This one is extremely suitable for its time as the toys threat is not being donated but a tablet.
In ‘Toy Story 5’ we get to see a new enemy named Lilypad voiced by Greta Lee. The frog shaped device makes things for the ‘Toy Story’ crew’s much harder as the kids trade playtime for screentime. An ensemble cast returns with Tom Hanks as Woody, Tim Allen as Buzz Lightyear, Joan Cusack as Jessie, and Tony Hale as Forky.
‘Toy Story 4’ grossed over $1 billion in the box office against a $200 million budget.
Comedian Conan O’Brien joins ‘Toy Story 5’ as Smarty Pants, a potty training toy.
Directors Andrew Stanton and Kenna Harris had this to say in a statement about ‘Toy Story 5’.
“It’s been a hilarious and poignant journey exploring how our favorite team of legacy toys might respond to today’s world of technology, and we’re thrilled to share this first glimpse with audiences,” the directors said in a press release. “Having the remarkably talented Greta Lee bring Lilypad to life — balancing a playfully antagonistic tone with humor and heart — has been incredible.” Stanton is notable for his work on ‘WALL-E’ and ‘Finding Nemo’.
‘Toy Story 5’ will release on June 19,2026.
