Tubi is owned by Fox. However, they have never been about streaming live content, such as sporting events. That said, there is now a push towards limited live capacity. Fox and Tubi have revealed that this year’s Thanksgiving NFL matchup on Fox will be on the free streaming platform. In addition, it will stream in full 4K resolution. This is a major win for Tubi. It is also a major win for the fans, who have a legitimate free way to watch football on one of the biggest holidays of the year.
Tubi Gets The Fox Turkey Day Game

When the Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions kick off on Thanksgiving Day on Fox, the game will be on a sister platform. Tubi, the free ad-supported streaming platform, will simulcast the Thanksgiving showdown in full 4K resolution. In addition, their version of the broadcast “will feature local advertising from Fox’s portfolio of local TV stations.”
This is a major win for football fans across the world. Traditionally, the Detroit Lions have had a home game on Thanksgiving. With the game being a rivalry game this year against the Packers, makes it all the more alluring to have as many eyeballs on it as possible, which is why this arrangement is ultimately in place.
