With the release of Superman, the DC Universe has slowly manuevered its way to the top once again. This summer has been the precursor to a score of new releases including ‘The Authority’, ‘Teen Titans’ and ‘Supergirl’. Now, DC is opening up a new phase of the ‘Wonder Woman’ series. DC Studios Co-Ceo and ‘Superman’ director James Gunn announced the makings of a new ‘Wonder Woman’ movie. This comes along with an HBO Series titled ‘Paradise Island’ which is centered around Wonder Woman’s homeland of Themyscira. DC has been making strides to heavily promote for its new phase titled ‘Gods and Monsters’.
‘Wonder Woman’ Adds on Writer from ‘Supergirl’
It was revealed this week that ‘Supergirl’ writer Ana Nogueira would be joining the team for the new ‘Wonder Woman’ iteration. Ana Nogueira is also an actress and playwright starring in ‘Sarah Dee’ and ‘The Vampire Diaries’. It seems that Nogueira has become a core part of DC- she is also slated to work on the live action ‘Teen Titans’ movie. While DC hasn’t found someone to portray the new Wonder Woman, they’re making it known that its in the worse. However, they have no reason to rush as they are determined to create a cinematic treat. On Threads, Gunn stated “It’s a priority but I wouldn’t call it fast tracked. Nothing is going to be shot unless we’re as sure as we can be that the script is good.”
The last installment of ‘Wonder Woman’ featured Gal Gadot in the titular role of the Amazonian warrior who leaves home to fight in World War I. She joined the Trinity of DC superheroes with Superman and Batman. Gadot furthered her work with the DC Universe in the sequel ‘Wonder Woman 1984’ as well as ‘Justice League’ ,’The Flash’,and ‘Shazam! Fury of the Gods.’
‘Supergirl’ will be released on June 26,2026. The plot will feature a darker side of the main character based off of the comic book by Tom King.
